Section 42 Student Rule

Households consisting entirely of full-time students must meet at least one of these requirements:

  •  One member receives assistance under Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC). (written verification must be provided).
  • One member is enrolled in a job training program that receives assistance under the Job Training Partnership Act, Workforce Investment Act, or is funded by a state or local agency
  • The head of the household is a single parent with children and neither is dependent of another individual
  • Be married and have filed a joint income tax return for the most recent filing year. (A copy of the return must be provided)
